Family budget for the month: plan, limits, and a period-end review
How to build a family budget for the month: income, “spent / left” limits, and a plan/actual review without fights.
A family budget for the month is a list of income, mandatory payments, and category limits for one period. First write down how much money will come in, subtract housing, connectivity, debts, and basic food, then allocate the rest across categories with a “spent / left” figure. At month end, compare plan and actual and adjust the limits.
Example of one month
Take a typical month, without a one-off bonus. Two incomes: 2 400 and 1 800, together 4 200. Mandatory: housing 900, connectivity and subscriptions 80, commute 120, food at home 700. After mandatory, 2 400 remains. Of that, cafe limit 200, kids 300, savings 400. The numbers are illustrative — plug in yours. Card balance shows how much money is in the account; remaining limit shows how much more you can spend in that category. These are different quantities.
Income and mandatory payments
Income includes salaries, benefits, and regular freelance. Mandatory includes rent or mortgage, utilities, connectivity, commute, minimum loan payments, and basic food. Do not bake a one-off bonus into the plan: if it arrives, decide separately where it goes.
Joint, separate, or hybrid
A joint pot, separate cards, or hybrid (shared household and personal pocket money) is a family rule, not an app rule. How to choose a model is covered in joint or separate budget. Who logs what — in shared expense tracking. Categories for such a month — in expense categories for a family. If shares suit you better than absolute limits, see the 50/30/20 method.
Free and Pro
Personal tracking within the limits is Free. The family contour and higher limits are Pro for Telegram Stars. There is no separate free month: open the bot and start tracking in the model available to you.
Five questions at month end
- What went over plan?
- What did you underspend and why?
- Which one-off spends will repeat?
- What to move into debts or goals?
- What to simplify in categories?
Where to start
Open @ladnomoneybot and set the first monthly limit on one hot category — usually cafes or delivery. Plan the budget. Keep the books. Ladno.
